OVERVIEW

Over the years Riverhawk developed a big range of special flexures to accomodate different customer requirments and was able to extend the standard product line with Custom Free-Flex® Pivots. Riverhawk engineers are happy to help design custom flexures with specific requirements, flexures for sub-assembly integration or flexures of different shapes like the Linear Flexure.

SINGLE & DOUBLE ENDED

Riverhawk has a wide variety of available options to fully customize your Flexures. Here is a short overview of the special modifications for the single and double ended custom lines:

LAMELLAR FLEXURES

Riverhawk Lamellar Flexures are the result of a new manufacturing process for the Free-Flex Pivots. The concept behind this process is to allow for multiple degrees of freedom that were not easily achievable with standard product line.

Lamellar Flexures function similarly to Single Ended and Double Ended Free-Flex Pivots and are intended to complement both product lines. Lamellar Flexures allow to reduce the cost of manufacturing a custom flexure and reduces the need to use custom materials. This new design creates new potential assembly methods.

LINEAR FLEXURES

Linear Flexures consist of two vertical flexure elements connected with rectangular mounting blocks at the top and bottom. One mounting block is fixed, and the other experiences a horizontal force. The flexure elements then bend in an S-shaped curve, allowing relative horizontal displacement between the two mounting blocks. A return spring provides automatic centering. Common applications include automotive, automation, conveyor systems and robotics.

Riverhawk's Linear Flexures have the same advantages over conventional bearings same as the Riverhawk's Free-Flex Pivots have over conventional roller bearings. Linear Flexures are friction and lubrication free, self-centering and have an unlimited life when used for their intended purpose. Hysteresis, vertical displacement and spring constant are also calculable.
